Film Pitch Feedback

PARMINDER MATHARU

Our film pitch presentation generally recieved positive feedback. In terms of our presentation, we generally had a clear idea of the genre and had definitive, concise background research and information for our film trailer, for example the hybrid teen comedy genre, certain stereotypical characters, scenes, plot , audience, appeal to older audiences, the film's enigma codes, ethnic identity and cultural prominence and other useful information. We had a more concise plot, we thought of stereotypes and referred to media theorists such as Propp, looked at other similar trailers such as Mean Girls, Juno etc.

Interestingly, we decided to focus on the teen comedy genre, however, with a more culturalised theme; Indian families and their views on teen pregnancy. This particular, revolutionary, unique idea was approved by Mr Bush, however, we could focus on the conventions of comedy and try to focus on elements of a teen comedy; looking at the humorous elements, gags, funny moments etc.

To an extent, our film could have an art house outlook to teen pregnancy, looking at certain moral messages etc. In order to progress, we had to look at cinematography (lighting, camera angles etc into more detail, by watching comedy trailers, reviewing thier use of camera angles, shots, lighting and other elements). In addition, we have to cast characters for our trailer by doing auditions, finding suitable characters. Also, we have to focus on locations; findinng locations, what time to film, at night or day, taking lighting into consideration.
